Portrait of photographer Ahmed Kamal Ali holding a camera, seen through glass with cloud reflections

/ ABOUT

Born in Cairo, inspired by the world.

Street & travel photography by Ahmed Kamal Ali. The story behind the prints — and the person who signs each one.

Photography, for me, is about slowing down and noticing the moments that often pass by unseen.

Chasing light wherever it shines — a quiet corner, a reflection in a puddle, or the first light over a mountain.

01 — Origins Black and white street photograph of a camel caravan before the Giza pyramids, Cairo

/ WHERE IT STARTED

Egyptian roots, restless curiosity.

I'm Egyptian, and I grew up between Muscat and Cairo. Those early years gave me a sense of movement and curiosity that I still carry with me today.

Two cities, two rhythms — one taught me patience, the other taught me to keep looking.

/ WHERE I LIVE NOW

Based in Berlin, still chasing light.

Now based in Berlin, I continue to seek out images that carry the atmosphere of a place — whether it's the restless energy of a city street or the quiet balance of a landscape at dawn.

Long enough to know Kreuzberg at 7am. Still new enough to stop when something catches the corner of my eye.

/ THE APPROACH

I've never liked putting labels on myself — street photographer, travel photographer, any category.

Photography is more personal than that. Sometimes it's people, sometimes architecture, sometimes landscapes. The thread tying it together isn't the subject — it's curiosity, and the act of paying attention.

/ WHY I PHOTOGRAPH

As someone with ADHD, the camera became my way of connecting with the outside world.
03 — The work Crowd with umbrellas in the rain at night in Shibuya, one orange umbrella among them

/ THE WORK

Only what deserved a wall.

Every print I offer is an image I kept coming back to — not everything I shoot makes the cut. Sometimes it's people, sometimes architecture, sometimes landscapes. The subject changes; the thread doesn't.

Most of what you see here is digital. I shoot film occasionally, when it feels right for the moment.
